Your Gmail or business mailbox, in the same inbox as WhatsApp.

Connect a Gmail, Google Workspace or other IMAP mailbox and new email lands in the DueDoor team inbox, next to WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. Replies go out from your address and a copy is saved to the mailbox's Sent folder.

What syncs

What moves between your mailbox and DueDoor

Email connects over IMAP, the standard way mail apps read a mailbox. Here is what moves.

WhatDirectionHow it works
New emailInto DueDoorThe mailbox is checked about every minute, and new messages appear in the team inbox, de-duplicated.
Replies and new emailsFrom DueDoorSent from your address through DueDoor's mail service.
Sent copiesFrom DueDoorEach reply is also saved to the mailbox's Sent folder, so your mail app shows the full thread.
The senderInto DueDoorMatched to a lead or client record, so the email sits in their history.
AutomationsInto DueDoor"Message received" can start a flow from an inbound email, such as a task or an alert.
The result

An email thread, where the team can see it

The client writes to your usual address. The email shows up in DueDoor with their record, and anyone on the team can reply.

  • Email sits with WhatsApp and Instagram, so you see the whole conversation with a client in one place.
  • Several mailboxes can be connected per workspace, for example sales@ and support@.
  • The connection is tested before it is saved, so a wrong password shows up at once.
  • Replies keep your address and appear in the Sent folder of your normal mail app.
  • Outreach and drip emails are a separate DueDoor feature; see AI email marketing below.
Setup

How to connect your mailbox

We set it up with you and test it end to end before it runs on real leads.

  1. 01

    Check IMAP is allowed

For Google Workspace, your admin can confirm IMAP access is allowed for your users.

  2. 02

    Create an app password

With 2-Step Verification on, create an app password in your Google account for DueDoor.

  3. 03

    Add the mailbox

In DueDoor, add the email address, the IMAP server and the app password. DueDoor tests it first.

  4. 04

    Set up sending

To send from your own domain, add the DNS records DueDoor gives you so mail is authenticated.

  5. 05

    Reply from the inbox

Send a test email to the address and reply from DueDoor, then check Sent in Gmail.

Good to know

What it does not do

We would rather you know the edges before you start. These are the honest limits today.

  • This is a standard IMAP connection, not Google sign-in. Google decides whether app passwords and IMAP are allowed on your account.

  • Sending from a free @gmail.com address through another service is unreliable; use an address on your own domain.

  • Microsoft accounts that only allow modern sign-in may not accept an IMAP password connection.

  • Email is checked on a schedule, about every minute, not instantly.

FAQ

Questions about the Gmail and email integration

Which mailboxes can I connect?

Any mailbox that allows IMAP, including Gmail and Google Workspace. You add the address, the IMAP server and a password, usually an app password, and DueDoor tests the connection before saving it.

Do I need an app password for Gmail?

Usually yes. With 2-Step Verification turned on, Google lets you create an app password for mail apps. Some Google Workspace admins turn this off, so check with yours.

How quickly does new email appear?

Mailboxes are checked about every minute, so new email shows up shortly after it arrives.

Are replies sent from my address?

Yes. Replies go out from your address through DueDoor's mail service, and a copy is saved to your mailbox's Sent folder. For the best delivery, use an address on your own domain with the DNS records set up.

Can I connect several mailboxes?

Yes. A workspace can have several, for example sales@ and support@, each shown in the team inbox.

Is this the same as email outreach?

No. This brings your mailbox into the team inbox. Cold outreach and drip sequences are a separate DueDoor feature with its own sending setup.
